Red Rock Crossing (Sedona) with Torin Waters

A small mostly brown bird with streaks of white is facing the left on a branch, with a background of blue sky. The bird's mouth is open as if singing.

Join us on an adventure that combines stunning scenery with great birding! We will walk along the riparian corridor at Oak Creek, beneath the majestic landmark of Cathedral Rock. Surrounded by the famous red rocks, we will search for lingering winter birds and early spring migrants. This riparian habitat should be good for Bridled Titmouse, White-breasted Nuthatch, Bushtit, and warblers such as Lucy’s and Northern Yellow, with  plenty of potential for unusual finds. The surrounding pinyon-juniper habitat is good for Woodhouse’s Scrub-Jay, Juniper Titmouse, Townsend’s Solitaire, and Canyon Towhee. It promises to be a memorable outing.

Limit: 20

Difficulty: 3 (dirt trails, streamside areas may be rocky, potential for more strenuous hiking up towards Cathedral Rock)

Leader: Torin Waters

Starts: Carpools to be arranged; plan to leave Phoenix ~4:30-5:00 AM, arrive in Sedona ~6:30-7:00 AM

Ends: ~11:00-12:00, back in Phoenix by 1:00-2:00 PM
